  4. Canopy control
  5. Malfunctions
  6. Emergency drills(Harness training)

  2. You would then jump by your self with an instructor evaluating your performance by watching you from the plane
  3. The progression course consists of 25 jumps
  4. You would then have to learn more flying skills by jumping with other experienced skydivers

You would do your first static line jump after the 7 lectures from 3500 feet. The ground school takes a full day so if it is a big class, you may only get to jump the next day.

YOU NEED TO BE AT THE DZ 08H00 SHARP

ACCELERATED FREE FALL

Ground school is a night class during the week at Icarus Air Wear in Edenvale. The reason is that you want to do your training before going to the drop zone so when when you get there you are ready to jump.

THE COURSE IS SEVEN LEVELS WITH INSTRCTORS
THE LEVEL EIGHT IS THREE JUMPS ON YOUR OWN

  1. Instructors actually jump with you and do your evaluation in the air
  2. The advantage is that you learn flying skills from the very first jump

All drills are simulated lying down in the free fall position on trolleys with wheels

Level 1. (Two instructors)

Altitude: 11 000 feet for every level
Exit procedures = Linked exit (instructors are holding on to your harness)
Body position = how to fall stable through the air in the box position
Practice touches = knowing where your deployment handle is as well as your emergency
Altitude awareness = reading your altimeter so you know what height you are at all the way through the dive.
High speed malfunctions
Deployment sequence

Level 2. (Two instructors)

Debrief level 1 = discus experience and correct any problems that may have arisen.eg.legs not 90 degrees, but to straight.
Exit = Linked
New skill = forward movement. How to propel your body forward using your legs

Level 3. (Two instructors)

Debrief level 2
Exit = Linked
New skill = one instructor releases and the student turns 90 degrees on to him

Level 4. (One instructor)

Debrief level 3
Exit = Linked
Full release dive = you are now freefalling by yourself
New skill = hover control.follow the movement of the instructor eg.90 degree turn

Level 5. (One instructor)

Debrief level 4
Exit = unlinked
New skill = 360 degree turns stopping on heading

Level 6. (One instructor)

Debrief level 5
Exit = Dive unlinked and regaining stability(fun dive)
New skill = back loops going unstable and regaining stability
Delta = Learning to fly away from an individual so as to get clean air for the opening of your parachute

Level 7. (One instructor)

Debrief level 6
Exit = unlinked
New skill = Put all your skills together: Back loop, 360 degree turns, Delta

For those who wish to learn to SkyDive Solo, and to jump with other SkyDivers at Drop Zones around the world, the Internationally Recognised Accelerated Freefall (AFF) Program involves Ground School Training (approx. 6 hours) and 10 AFF Levels (10 SkyDives). Accelerated Freefall (AFF) is the fast track program designed to turn you into a safe and competent skydiver in the shortest period of time.

You wear your own parachute, jump suit, helmet, altimeter and goggles, experiencing solo freefall (35 – 45 seconds) from jump number one from an altitude of between 10 000 ft and 12 000 ft.

The first 3 AFF Levels are performed under the direct "in freefall supervision" of two highly experienced and certified AFF Instructors who will be at your side not only for safety (they are able to activate your parachute should you fail to do so by the right altitude), but also to coach, assist, and evaluate your performance. From AFF Level 4 you progress to one AFF Instructor. For your first few solo parachute landings you will also receive assistance, in the form of brightlycoloured batons, to guide you to a safe landing on the Drop Zone.

On completion of AFF Level 1 you will be awarded with a certificate of achievement signed by your AFF Instructor and the Drop Zone's Chief Instructor. Another certificate of accomplishment is awarded on completion of the full AFF Program.

It is recommended to complete at least one Tandem Introductory SkyDive prior to beginning with the Accelerated Freefall Program; however you can enrol on the AFF Program with no prior skydiving experience.

Advance Bookings Essential. R 500 per person deposit is required.
